Tribal Wars is a browser-based real-time strategy MMO launched in 2003 by InnoGames. Its age suggests most of its original audience has moved on, but it still maintains a dedicated niche community, especially in Europe. As a persistent world strategy game with large-scale simultaneous players, it meets basic MMO criteria. The player base has slowly declined over the years but stable support from InnoGames and mobile/web access help it retain several thousand daily active players.

World of Warcraft Classic, released in 2019 by Blizzard Entertainment, is a major MMORPG revival of the original WoW experience. The game continues to have a robust, though markedly smaller, player base than at launch, thanks to a steady cycle of classic content and expansions (like Wrath of the Lich King Classic). As an MMORPG developed and maintained by a top-tier publisher, it sees strong retention, but is several years past launch and shares its community with retail WoW.
