Star Wars: The Old Republic is a classic MMORPG launched in 2011 by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts. Although it had a large player base at launch, the numbers have declined over the years, especially since it's now over a decade old and several expansions have come and gone. However, it still maintains a loyal core community thanks to regular content updates and the strength of the Star Wars IP. As an MMORPG, it does meet the MMO criteria with a persistent online world and the ability to interact with thousands of players simultaneously.

Realm of the Mad God is a browser-based, free-to-play MMO bullet hell shooter first released in 2011. While its peak passed years ago, it still maintains a niche but active player base thanks to frequent updates from DECA Games and its unique gameplay loop. As an indie MMO, it is unlikely to have more than 10,000 daily active players but retains a dedicated community.
