Reign of Darkness is a small-scale indie RPG released in 2019 by Unorthodox Studios. It received limited attention at launch and has a sparse online presence. As an indie adventure/RPG/strategy game with no major publisher backing and modest update activity, current daily players are likely very low—around 100. The game is not widely recognized as an MMO; it may have online multiplayer features, but lacks a large persistent world or the player scale typical of true MMOs.

Star Wars: The Old Republic is a classic MMORPG launched in 2011 by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts. Although it had a large player base at launch, the numbers have declined over the years, especially since it's now over a decade old and several expansions have come and gone. However, it still maintains a loyal core community thanks to regular content updates and the strength of the Star Wars IP. As an MMORPG, it does meet the MMO criteria with a persistent online world and the ability to interact with thousands of players simultaneously.
