Legends of Aria is a sandbox MMORPG released in 2019 by Citadel Studios. Although it initially attracted a niche audience due to its Ultima Online-inspired mechanics, the player base has declined significantly over time, as is typical for indie MMOs without major publisher backing or frequent, large-scale updates. Its persistent online world still qualifies it as an MMO, but the daily player count is now quite low—likely in the hundreds.

Star Wars: The Old Republic is a classic MMORPG launched in 2011 by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts. Although it had a large player base at launch, the numbers have declined over the years, especially since it's now over a decade old and several expansions have come and gone. However, it still maintains a loyal core community thanks to regular content updates and the strength of the Star Wars IP. As an MMORPG, it does meet the MMO criteria with a persistent online world and the ability to interact with thousands of players simultaneously.
