Extremely Realistic Siege Warfare Simulator is a niche indie tactical/simulation game released in 2022 by Screambox Studio and Yooreka Studio. While it had some visibility on Steam for its unique physics-based siege battles, it never reached mainstream popularity. As of mid-2024, an estimated 500–1,000 daily players is reasonable for this type of indie title two years post-launch, with an audience primarily among strategy/simulator fans. It does not meet the criteria for an MMO as multiplayer is limited (not massive scale or persistent world).

Star Wars: The Old Republic is a classic MMORPG launched in 2011 by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts. Although it had a large player base at launch, the numbers have declined over the years, especially since it's now over a decade old and several expansions have come and gone. However, it still maintains a loyal core community thanks to regular content updates and the strength of the Star Wars IP. As an MMORPG, it does meet the MMO criteria with a persistent online world and the ability to interact with thousands of players simultaneously.
