Angeldust is a small-scale indie open-world action-adventure RPG released in 2015. It has some MMO-like features, but with no major publisher or promotional events and being several years post-launch, its active player base is likely quite low, perhaps in the low hundreds daily. Indie open-world multiplayer games tend to have niche but steady follower bases if they offer persistent worlds and cross-platform play.

Star Wars: The Old Republic is a classic MMORPG launched in 2011 by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts. Although it had a large player base at launch, the numbers have declined over the years, especially since it's now over a decade old and several expansions have come and gone. However, it still maintains a loyal core community thanks to regular content updates and the strength of the Star Wars IP. As an MMORPG, it does meet the MMO criteria with a persistent online world and the ability to interact with thousands of players simultaneously.
