As a platform with persistent worlds, it fits the broader MMO definition.

Unturned is a free-to-play survival sandbox game released in 2017 and known for its strong modding community. It retains a dedicated player base thanks to frequent updates and multiplayer support, but is past its peak. Based on current Steam charts and the typical retention for successful indie survival games, it's estimated to have around 15,000–20,000 daily active players across PC and consoles.
