AwakeMUD is a recent MUD (Multi-User Dungeon) with a fantasy and sci-fi setting, released at the end of 2021. MUDs generally have small niche audiences, given that this is not a modern graphical MMO and has no major publisher or developer name attached. Interest in MUDs is low compared to mainstream online RPGs, so daily active players are likely to be quite limited—typically in the tens or low hundreds even soon after launch. Given its continued operation and niche interest, estimating around 50 daily players is reasonable.

Second Life is a long-running sandbox virtual world released in 2003 by Linden Research. Its mainstream popularity peaked in the late 2000s, but it retains a loyal user base thanks to its unique user-created content and social interaction. It is still supported and receives regular updates, but its daily player base is much smaller than during its peak years. Current estimates place its daily active users in the tens of thousands.
